Severne Glide ::
(German surf, August 2006)

"Outside the box" Ben Severne found a lot of space for completely new ideas.
With a sail which would fit perfectly to the Alinghi, he takes all possible opportunities of this contest and has gone the furthest way from the classic concepts, this pays off: the extravagant sail with its huge trim range, is exceptionally good in pumping and builds up a lot power after two times pumping. The soft but superlight feeling is new, makes fun already in 10 knots wind. Even if not rigged proper, more like a spinnaker, almost without visible loose leech, the sail touches deeply the boom and with the power of a 9.0 sail, it still keeps almost its easiness and friendliness in use. Thereby Ben says, that he has tested Prototypes which plans even earlier but on the same time are heavier. The final sail with more variations in the profile between top and sailbody has now a profile with 20% in the top and 45% in the base behind the mast. Well tuned, Ben: the Glide 7.5 suits perfectly, being the biggest powersail, to Surfers up to 85kg and some trimm know how.
