The S-1 is the Concept sail in the range - new ideas are first tried on these prototypes, and the successful ones then flow down through the other models. The Homogenous Batten Concept - the idea that the overall stiffness of the rig could be fine tuned by varying the number of battens depending on sail size -- was first experimented with on the S-1.
Our aim this year was to make all sizes feel as good as our favorites. On the larger sizes, this meant decreasing the flex response by adding a sixth batten. On the smaller sizes, we wanted a softer feel, so overall skin tension was reduced, and on the smallest sail we even reduced the batten count to four.
The sleeve width has been even further refined to fit exclusively on RDM masts. This keeps pushing the responsiveness of the sails. Weight has been reduced through the use of our new Xply Lite material and our new Wave Tube battens.
Rig Ergonomics: Higher clew position allows the rider to hang more weight on the rig for a quicker, reactive style.
Board type: Suited to all wave boards, also suited to Freestyle boards, and FreeMove boards.
